Periodontics
Keeping your gums and supporting bone structures healthy with periodontics
Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that’s concerned with the health and maintenance of gum tissues and the supporting bone structures. Periodontal treatments involve treating and preventing gum disease, gum surgery and treating implants.
At The Bush Dental Care, we have specialist periodontists who have completed additional training to be qualified for carrying out complex gum treatments.
Treating gum disease
For more complex cases of gum disease, a dentist with experience and training in periodontics is best placed to treat the condition. The more advanced stage of gum disease, periodontitis, is a life-long condition but can be managed through a treatment plan.
Gum surgery
In some cases of gum disease, the gum tissue can recede to the point that the tooth roots are exposed. Gum grafting replenishes this lost tissue. Periodontics can also include removing any infected gum tissue.
Excess gum
Worried about the amount of gum you show when you smile? Gum contouring can be used to remove gum tissue and reveal more of the teeth.
