New Patients

Unfortunately, our practice has a full NHS list of patients. The NHS funding has not allowed the acceptance of new NHS patients since 2006. However patients do leave the area and move on and we find that most of our new patients will be accepted on the NHS, often as soon as their following routine check up.

All new patients at the practice will initially be seen privately for an extended consultation appointment. At this appointment, the immediate concerns of the patient are addressed. An in-depth examination is carried out, treatment options are discussed to render patients dentally fit. There are often many options available from the most simple of treatments to some quite complicated and challenging work. Dental fitness can be sought in many ways.

For this reason, it is often not possible to decide on the path immediately. Time to rediscuss and revisit options are offered to make the correct decision that are patient-led. Treatment plans can change throughout the course of treatment and opportunities will always be given to change paths.

Often patients will stage treatments over time once the mouth is initially stabilized.

Patients must not be concerned or ashamed about the state of their mouths when initially attending. Thirty years ago the expectation of patients keeping their teeth throughout life was low. In fact at that time some 70% of the population over 50 would be wearing some form of denture. With modern dentistry it is our aim that looking after our patients dental health regularly will allow us never to be a part of this statistic. Our aim is to treat the whole mouth and not perform single tooth dentistry. In this way we are able to prevent unnecessary loss of teeth. No one needs to end up with conventional complete dentures anymore!

We always want to treat patients that are comfortable with the practice and their clinicians. Often failing mouths take many years to achieve fitness as we assess the success of the simpler stabilising stages of treatment before anything a little more complicated is carried out.

We hope that you can at least come and see what we can offer without any obligation.
