Sports guards, or mouth guards, help safeguard your teeth when playing contact sports such as rugby, hockey, cricket, lacrosse or martial arts. They are made from a strong, yet pliable, material which cushions your teeth against damage such as chips, cracks and tooth loss. They can also help protect your jaw, softer areas such as the lips, tongue and cheeks, and even your neck and brain.

WHY CHOOSE A CUSTOM-MADE MOUTH GUARD?

Custom-made mouth guards are created using impressions of your teeth. We then create accurate models of your teeth. These are sent to the factory where a machine crafts your guard from a durable acrylic, ensuring maximum protection when worn.

Some sports shops supply ‘boil and bite’ gum shields. These are made from a softer plastic and don’t mould sufficiently to your teeth.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR GUARD

You should keep your mouth guard clean by rinsing after each use and occasionally washing in cool soapy water.

So we can make sure your guard is still fitting properly and remains in good condition, it is a good idea to bring it with you to your routine check-ups. Children and young adults will need mouth guards replacing more frequently as they are still growing.
